Amps Get Hot And Go On Protect
I have 2 amps hooked up, one for highs and one for bass. When i turn highs up all the way with bass, the highs go out sometimes, or vice versa. Amp for bass goes on protect. Then when i feel the amps they are hot as hell, i dont know why, never had this problem before. Could omage on subs be wrong, How would that explain why my highs amp gets hot? could i not have enough battery power?? need help guys.
If both do it you have a voltage issue. Do your big 3 and run bigger wire to the amps.

check ground and my buddy has dhd amps and they always run pretty hot +1 on turn your gain down some. And do the amps have any air flow getting to them at all?Do you have any caps hooked up or how big of a battery are you running them off?
umm, assuming your grounds are good and you dont have your gains at max - amps do get hot. driving them hard will make them overheat.
it isn't a problem, its a characteristic.

Depends on the amp...obviously some brands get hotter than others depending on their build quality. I would say it's more of a problem then a charactersitic though, an amp/system should be tuned and wired to the correctly where it can play at a substanial volume without heating up to the point where it kicks into protection. Your system probably won't last too long if this is a common characteristic.

on a hot day in florida, any amp will overheat at max volume regardless of its tune.
Amp cooling and themal limits are designed to be reliable only in 'nominal' conditions. An amp in a trunk is bad enough, an amp at any angle other than 0 degrees from its designed horizontal(either flat on its back or perfectly straight) is bound to be out of design spec and as such be susceptible to heat buildup.
