Most of it isn't pure SPL stuff. Sundown only offers amps (great amps at that though, very good prices). Same if for Incriminator, but a lil larger price tag. Digital Designs is more of an spl brand but has a full line to offer (I'm sure you've heard of the 9515). Stereo Intergirty subs are very SQ but have very good SPL. And Rainbow and CDT both have great speakers, as well carry a line.

I would say of the ones I listed, CDT or Rainbow, DD, Sound Splinter (I'm sure you have heard of the RL-P subs as well) and Sundown would be best. (I really just want a local place to buy Sundown lol).

The key would be to prove to people that these un heard of brands aren't garbage, as most automatically assume. If I ever get another job or sell these JLs I can show the Sundowns in action.

Toby Treo is definately a great brand I was at a shop in TX that had a 12w3 and and a Treo 12" TSX. The Treo blew away the JL sub. I had a pair for 3 months then I was doing real bad money so I sold them with a D3 600 Diamond Audio amp huge mistake. I miss them (tear) ID is also the way to go

Fi can be bought online factory direct, so toby would get little to no profit off them. i would stick with brands people know, and then have a few off-brand items that people don't know about. to help sell, maybe install the subs in a car to let the customer hear the product.

I know they ARE brand names, what I mean is mainstream, household brand names that the average person would recognize.

The average dude looking to buy car audio probably hasn't heard of resonant engineering, but surely has heard of Kicker. That's all I'm saying.

I get calls all the time for JL, Kicker, Alpine, Clarion, etc. There are dealers of all of these near my shop, so the call usually goes...'I got a price from x, wanted to see if you could beat it'. That's not a fun game to play.

My theory is to sell stuff that I believe in (many shops believe in it because they sell it, not the other way around) and convince customers to believe in it, as well.

That's cool, I respect that. You seem to want to cater to the more discerning customer, or you just have really great selling skills.

It seems that that's the way most markets are going; name whoring, mass production; Sony, Honda, McDonalds; they're everywhere.

I was just saying, as an average guy looking to put together an average system, I would be more inclined to go with more mainstream brands.
