2nd Battery ?
Alright, I jsut installed my HC2000 the other day. I rode around for a while today giving the system a good beating, and then tonight it seems as if the Kinetik died on me.
It started acting like it wasn't there, lights dimmed and amps cut out like before. My first though is my alt isn't big enough to charge that and the red top (stock 140amp). Any input?

you have a 1000/1 and a 300/4, HIDs, and you are wondering why your stock alt couldnt keep up?
Do you have a charger at home? I charge my car every few days or so just to make sure the system hasnt pulled my battery down.

Any reccomendations on what size Alt to get? I was thinking in the 250-300 range.

how about you charge it at night or drive with the volume down for 30 minutes?
Can't really charge it, but I can drive with volume down for 30 minutes lol.

Thats all you need to do in the future. a 140 amp alternator will supply p[lenty of current if you turn the volume down, dont run the wipers, ac, or heated seats, and dont race the engine for 30 minutes or so ones a week.
Also, since you seem to be $ inclined, you might want to look into a solar trickle charger that will slowly charge your battery during sunlit hours. You mount it in your rear window and its about 12"x8" big.

I don't think a solar charger works well with 5% tint lol.

the one i was thinking of was 15 watt and wouldnt work in the drivers window - there are smaller 4 - 6 watt ones that would work in the front windshield.
New car dealers use the 4-6 watts trickle chargers to keep the batteries charged during transit and storage.
