Fuse Keeps Popping Plz Hlp
I have a civic ex. I hooked up a system today. Played fine for an hour straight. Then i turn it on later and everything shuts off. The amps, eq, headunit. I check my fuses and the radio/cigarette lighter was blown. I replaced that but right when i push it in it popped. I tried a 20 amp fuse instead of 15 and it did the same thing. Then i unhooked the wire under my hood that powers the amps. That should have illiminated it if it was a problem with the amps. Put a fuse in and it popped. Also when i am driving with lights on it makes the door ajar sound. Any suggestions. Could it be my hu?? i know its not the amps seeing as i diconnected them.
probably a wire shorted out somehwere.. i doubt its the amps if your whole hu/cig lighter fuse is blowing..was the hu just installed or did it always work before>?
No it isn't the power wire for your amp. Check all the lines that your radio harness is hooked into because thats where your problem is coming from. Possibly the remote turn on wire. What I would do is unhook the wire that is the orange wire for your radio (the illumination wire) and check all other wires. I am assuming you have an aftermarket head unit. See if when you remove the illumination wire from the circuit and secure the remote wire if you still have the same problem.
Door ajar sound with the lights on is a grounded circuit for illumination - remove that immediately as it can cause damage to the dimmer switch.
disconnect the factory harness and work backwards. if you have a multimeter make sure you dont have 0ohms to ground on any circuit...

DONOT USE THE GROUND IN THE HARNESS - RUN YOUR OWN GROUND- DISCONNECT THE ORANGE AND ORANGE AND BLACK WIRE IN THE WIRE KIT
AND TAPE THEM OFF, NOW TRY REPLACING THE FUSES

But make sure you reconnect the ground to the chasis or you will blow the deck.
