hook the two outputs from the headunit to the 4channel and use the line out to hook into the sub amp?

OR

Change the 4channel to a 2channel mode and use one set for the 4channel amp and the other set for the sub amp.

I am kinda in the same pickle, i have a 4ch and a monoblock

My headunit only has two outputs as well =[.

What i ended up doing (not because i wanted to) was connecting one set to my 4ch and the other set to my monoblock. Why? because for some crappy reason the inputs on my 4ch (for the rear) introduce awful alternator whine when they're connected.

Good news is it sounds just as good with only one input.

Why?

Most music you listen to is only in stereo, i dont think you have any 4.1 surround sound music cds... i know i dont. =[

4 channel amps don't have 4 inputs/outputs for surround sound, but taking advantage of the fade and balance controls is a nice feature.

You sure you have things grounded good? and there are no loops?

Might want to get your shit checked out if you're having doubts. =S

Does the whine vary when you rev the engine?

I'd first check your sub amp's ground. Make sure it's tight, and if it is, try moving it. Then I'd check your rca's, try disconnecting one channel at a time and see if it still whines. Then try swapping the rca wires completely. If none of that works, it could easily be the amp itself, the rca ouput deal on amps is shit most of the time.

Just put a floating ground from the RCA shielding on the cable between the amps.
