Head Unit?
So, I'm putting together a system for my Buick. I prefer to stay Alpine with everything (because in my past experiences and from what I've heard from others, Alpine has never let anybody down), but am open to whatever.
I'm going to run a single 12 in the trunk, upgrade all the door speakers to something decent (last car had Boston NX-65s, trying to get around that quality again, but not quite to taht phase yet.), and also upgrade the weak stock deck. My question is, what would be a good deck meeting the following criteria:
*It must have CLEAN sound.
*It must be able to push the speakers (as well as a non-amp'd deck can be expected to), of course.
*It must play any kind of burnt CD I want to throw in it
*It must not skip over every godforsaken speedbump and pothole
*I don't give a damn about features like XM, Sirius, etc. I just want to listen to the radio and play burnt CDs with a good sound quality. No frills needed
*It must not cost my first born child to purchase (most likely used)
*It must of course have at least 1 preamp output pair
Thanks in advance!

Shit, so they went the way of Rockford Fosgate? Well, I'm buying an amp TOMORROW, a V-Power MRP-M350. It looks like a good amp, its not one of the 'made in china' bullshit ones, is it? I searched around and peopel said it was a nice amp, but I don't want to buy this 06 series junk you speak of.
So, in the absence of quality stuff form Alpine, what OTHER stuff do you guys recommend to sub out for the head unit? Also, are Alpine subs okay, or do I need to go with other brands for those as well?

The amp you mentioned is fine. I've installed countless, and although they're nothing spectactular....they seem to be pretty solid and a good choice for the money.

Shibby. Since you appearently know your shit, and I've stated and you know from my amp size my general desired power level, any other suggestions on which hardware to use? I looked into the above mentioned deck, but that had all that extra BS that I just don't need.

the M350 is a surprisingly robust amp for its size and current market value. You will be happy with its performance/price ratio assuming you are paying what it costs on ebay.
