Question newbie to car audio with the some questions....

hello,

i'm new to car audio and i wanted to ask some questions. please be gentle with the flames

First set of questions relate to my g/fs car. I want to replace the factory speakers with after markets. This includes two 5 1/4" and two small tweeters in the front and two 6 1/2" speakers in the back. I don't know what is the best to buy but not break the bank at the same time and still have alittle thump, ya know? I was also thinking of a single sub and amp in the trunk for a little bump. (i don't wanna rattle windows).

Second set of questions relate to my Lightning. Again, i wanna replace the factory crap speakers with some thing better. That is simply four 6x8s. My main concern is the headunit, which one do i get without breaking the bank? my budget is kinda low at only ~$250 for the headunit. I want to be able to adjust settings individually (not adjust just the EQ curve like on some headunits).

Sorry for the long post.......

almost forgot, i need a headunit that plays MP3's. I was thinking a pioneer DEH-7600mp or higher series, an Alpine unit (iknow nothing about alpines with ALL those different series they have) or i had an awia CDC-MP3 unit in my old mustang and i loved that thing (i know it's old).....

thanks again

i personaly love my alpine HU, its a 9807, i would check ebay for it, i bought it for 300 in the store so im sure ebay has it for less.. as for speakers, i would try some infinity's, alot of people like them and there pretty cheep. and for a sub, for just a little bass, there are TONS of options. check around TR for audio for sale

Well for your truck, Pioneer makes some decent 6x8 replacement speakers that I dropped in the rear of my truck. Running off the factory radio they sound good, but I know they would sound better with a lil power goign to them. Up fron I used a MB Quart component system, but would have gone a different route cause the damn cross over was a pain in the ass to hide.

Where did you put the components, in the doors? How big are those crossovers anyways? I fit mine behind the door panels with no problems at all, but they are different crossovers.

I own 2 Alpine CDA-9830's, it does everything you want except the eq thing, which you can adjust yourself. It cost $250 from Crutchfield on sale...

The advantage of the crossovers, is that the mids / highs are allowed to reproduce higher frenquencies so they dont distort, and allow the subs to play the low end. The alpines I mentioned above do exactly that. A 6x8 would make some nice midbass, esp the Inifinity Kappa or the higher end Pioneer 6x8's. If I had doors like that Id put 8" mids in myself (but then again I am an audio nut)
