type r subs
well its comming to that wonderfull time when i install the system back into my car.. i have 3 type R 10's (yes i know they suck really bad but owell) before i used to run them from an mtx1501D, which is 1000rms, but i ran it at 2.6 ohms, so i was gettin around 850 or so watts... the subs are also in small boxes.. do you think ill get a better sound just running 2 subs at 1000rms (500 each) and then using my other amp (for the highs but has enough extra power to give the sub about 300 ish) for the other sub?
julian shut up already..you dont know what your talking about.. what would i get instead????? with the deal i got on it, selling it would be retarted because i would accomplish NOTHING sound wise.
jesse, you dont think id notice an extra 300 watts added to my system???

First I just want to dissagree with Julian on this one. MTX makes some bad ass amps and if you think otherwise, well you shouldn't be in here.
Second, Tim I would run just 2 subs. Alpine calls for :
Recommended Sealed Box Volume : 0.55 – 0.8 cu. ft.
on the 10's so it should sound fine. Running just 2 subs will allow you to get the full potential out of the amp since running 3 will only give you 2.6 ohms and barely allow you to give the subs its RMS power (300) I think feeding each sub 500 RMS should be fine, I read the 12's can take 500-600 rms all day long and they have the same power ratings as the 10's so I dont really see a problem. You can always turn an amp down. If that doesnt please you well I would either
A) Get another amps
or B) Maybe trade in for the 12's.
I really dont know what your main goal is here so

12's wont fit in my trunk
i had to go with 10's... but the boxes are right around .6ish (my guess) and i put some fiberfill or whatever in there as well. arent you supposed to give more power when your in a small sealed box??.
also i think with teh other sub getting less power, its not a big deal, i dont do any competitions or what not.. as a matter of fact, once i get the rest of the plexy glass/lights done.. im gonna try and cell the thing as a whole and just run factory, get a few bucks to fix up the car
