bleh - I got two "sound ordinance" tickets back in 1990 in Jax cruising the beach at night - noise restrictions are nothing new, the banning of car alarms won't go far though.

I agree about the car alarms. I love my car alarm, and without it I wouldn't have that peice of mind nor the fact knowing that if my car gets broken into in the middle of the night, I atleast have a fighting chance to go outside and try to stop it if my pager or sirens go off. Yeah its not going to stop a theif in the middle of a mall parking lot but I bought it for the places I park my car the most which is in the driveway, school, or at my work parking lot where there is security everywhere.

Hopefully one day they will greatly improve car alarms to make them more effective. For example, maybe the pager alarms will page you up to longer distances than 1/4 mile.

The thing I do like is the Lo Jack system or the sattelite system you can add onto Viper Alarms to globally track your car if it gets stolen but it is mega bucks and the chances of my car getting stolen are not worth the money. I am much more worried about my system getting stolen than the whole car.

BTW, Kick ass sig! hahah

"the New York City Council has already begun debate on legislation banning the use of any audible type of security device. "

The last thing this country needs is another law. Buncha Nazi fascists.

I can easily see LoJack type systems being the future of alarms. They seem to be much more effective in the long run.

yeah well they need something more effective for people who want to protect the shit inside the car rather than the whole car. But the more effective usually means more money. Say they did pagers via satelitte. Your probably going to have to pay monthly or some bs
