Question apparently I can't install a CD player anymore...

Ok I just did the wiring harness and its all hooked up. The cd player comes on, beeps when changing stations etc, and plays cds(you can hear it and it displays it playing). Its just not sound comes out of the speakers. The wires are all done right. I checked and every wire is the same for the aftermarket harness as the aftermarket stereo's harness except the stereo said orange/white for a lighting switch terminal and I hooked it up to the orange one on the player which asked for illumination. Anyone have any ideas? This is on a 95 explorer and the stock stereo/speakers work fine. Thanks for any help.

hmmm thats odd. does the beep come from the speakers or the HU?

What i would do, take out the Head unit, and disconnected the speaker leads from the radi harness to the adapter harness.

then take a 9 volt battery and touch +/- to the +/- on the leads that shoul dbe running to the speakers, NOT the ones on the aftermarket radio harness. See if the speaker makes a little popping sound.

if it does, then the wires are fine from that point on.. could be a setting in the HU or the amp is shot.. what HU?

Its a brand new Pioneer DEH-P3500. There are a few wires I didn't connect though. I didn't connect the aftermarket harness' following wires:

power antenna(don't have one)
amp turn-on
amp ground
dimmer
phone mute

Now aren't the amp ones for an aftermarket amp or no? If not thats it right there for sure. I just always remember using those for aftermarket ones. Let me see if theres any no used on the cd player's harness.

Theres 2 wires not being used on the stereos harness. The audio mute(cell phone) lead and the blue/white which says its "to system control terminal of the power amp or auto antenna relay control terminal."

Should I connect the 2 blue/white wires? Is that for the internal amp then?

Well I connect them and the stereo works. Now I have a new problem. A hiss from the speakers whenever the stereo is on, even if turned all the way down and a sort of ticking sound as well. Sounds like some wires are touching/too close or something maybe? Which ones should I really worry about?

Well it worked, no sparks or smells and the stereo works. Now the other problem went away as well. Only problem I have is sort of a pop when I turn off the stereo. Doesn't sound very good.
