I was wondering if i could ask a few questions and for a few opinions. I have been into classic cars all my life and in particular, muscle cars. Some of first memories are of me working on cars with my dad( he was a mechanic and a drag racer) and going out to the drag strip. He had a 1970 Cuda witha 440 6 pack and that ultra kool pistol grip . Man, that car was fast. His best time was in the 10.90s. Well, as fait would have it he would be killed in an accident some years later just before i turned 12. But I never let the joy of being around these magnificent vehicles die with him. To this day and till I die, I will always muscle cars in my life. So my question is , do u all that are also into these rides believe that classics, muscle cars in particular, will be fazed out by todays sport compact hype. I mean, do u think that there is still significant interest by todays youth to where it will rise again to really give competition to the sport compacts. Because it seems that wherever i go on the weekends i see these imports gathered at so parking lot. And i'm not counting the late model mustangs and GM g bodys. cause they maybe kool but just not the same as the 60s and 70s muscle cars. and im also not counting those car shows that seem to have a bunch of older guys reliving their younger days street racing and what not. my other question is, what r the ages of the people in here who r into these rides. I, myself am, 28. If I had it my way, there would be more young people building and runnin classic muscle cars on the street. Now i know what u all r thinkin, that muscle cars r too expensive to build, and that maybe true if you r talkin about maybe a 71 cuda, a 69 camaro, or a 67 fastback mustang, but there still r plenty of cars that could be had and built for not a whole lot. In fact , i plan to make that part of my business. right now i restore classic car a/c parts. my current projects r a 73 maverick that i picked up for $400 and a 62 impala that cost $1100. well let me know what u all think.

That made my head hurt.

I don't think sport compacts will ever phase out muscle cars or classics. Our cars have been around a good half of a century, and will be around another half of a century while the imports are taken to the junk yard. Muscles and classics, due to mainly American pride, are always going to be worth money. As long as a car is worth something, it's worth restoring and rebuilding again and again. Nobody is going to dump $10k-$15k into a 1994 Civic Si just to have it mint condition again in 2014. Catch my drift?

Well I'm 29 and the Chevelle was my first car. I have always had an interest in the classics mostly because I was raised around it and my dad had a few. When it came time to look for a car (1993), that was all I looked for. I didn't care what kind of shape it was in I was determined to fix it up.

Now looking at it in today perspective...........
Kids now adays will bolt some parts on an import, but to take on a classic that, to be done right, will take some time, I personally don't see them even keeping a car that long.

But NO, I don't see sport compacts ever phasing out American Classics. Classics are rare and thats what makes them worth so much. You see imports Everywhere, and thats why there not ever going to be what our cars are today. Beside you can't compare a healthy V8 to the sound of a weed wacker.

Im 44 and my first car was a 1970 z/28 that I purchased in 1977. I'd say Franks spot on. The appeal of Muscle cars isn't just that they were fast. You can make any car fast. But, if your car was built between 1964-1971 it represents a time in American cultural history when this country was truely car crazy. When the number 1 priority of every major US auto maker was to build a faster car than the other guys. A time when winning on Sunday meant increased car sales on Monday. New cars, foriegn or domestic, no matter how fast will never have that mystic. And thats why people will always want them and why most will not be able to afford one before long.

i'm 22 and my hart will always belong to the classics shit i dont even like calling them classics.they will never die give me any camaro from 67-72,nova62-72,impala58-72,chevelle64-74,vette1957-74 any day hands down shit i'm looking to trade my camaro as a roller for one of this cars above i dont even care if its a pos long as its a muscle car i'll take it with a smile.
