older neon w/srt-4 motor?

how much would an srt-4 motor run me complete,and to have it installed in like a 94-95 neon?just wondering cause i was thinking of doing it after seeing a vid of a swapped neon.thanks-keith

foolish boy....the SRT4 motor is not a good match for a 1st gen neon, I have a swapped turbo 2.4, take it from me, it wont work without a standalone or some mega wiring harness splicing...my motor is from a 96 sebring(which does work due to similar computer setups) built with wiseco pistons and t2 rods...but SRT4 internals will work almost as good, for what your asking your looking at a cost of about $15000 + car, not worth it, do the work yourself...I have a fully built motor with a turbo far larger than an SRT4 for under $10000 for the entire car, would be much less if I started with a $500 junker though, its pointless to swap an SRT4 motor when you can build an NA 2.4 to turbo for cheaper, faster and better

i agree, the one i posted said they spent 3K for the standalone by itsself.

bah, 3k is BS I have a standalone and paid $320 for it, plus $200 for a laptop, may not be as fancy as a 3k unit, but it works great

I think saying $15,000 to do it is a LITTLE over estimated. You can get a whole 2003 SRT4 for less than that and swap everything over. :-D

The point is, if you want the 2.4 torque like the SRT4 has instead of turboing the stock 2.0, swap to the 2.4 NA engine and build it up and boost it cheaper and easier. Josiah, do you have pics of your setup or a walkthru that you followed that you could post for him?

no pics that I have bothered to get developed yet, but I found all the info on neons.org...where people have been doing it since long before the SRT4 came out, they have a sticky telling you everything you need for a NA swap, they have a sticky for building it with SRT4 parts which explains most of what you need(wish they had those when I first started my project, would have made it easier) as far as swaps, its pretty easy

Did you keep the 2.0 Valve cover or stick the 2.4 cover on there. I figure if you want to get some pics of the wiring/standalone and all the other shit we can, plus I want to start meeting up with some of the neon/srt guys.

I left the 2.4 valve cover on it since its shorter and causes less hood clearance problems, I would like to get some pictures though..I tend to go out on wed to the chick fillet on lumsden in brandon after 9pm(after work, though I didnt go yesterday, having a strange misfiring problem I think is due to ancient plug wires, will be buying new wires tomorrow and this weekend switching full control of spark to my standalone, previously had the stock computer run spark and the standalone fuel, but I think its causing strange things to happen that way, IE my stock computer still takes a reading from the NA MAP sensor which causes it to pull timing in boost since the stock computer thinks boost is bad, therefore throwing the fuel table for the standalone off causing bad spluterring and no boost, I think the cause is my old MAP clamp no longer working, thing only worked when it wanted to anyway, luckily now that I have a standalone its no longer needed) ok, now that I have gone off on a tangent for most of the post...yeah, I'd love to get some pics(all my undeveloped pics are of the engine build anyway)
