well on saturday, i'm going to go pick up an elemental designs nine.1 from a friend, as well as a ported enclosure tuned to 28 hz for my 12" DVC 4 ohm IDMAX. The sub has an rms of 1000 watts, and the amp should put out 900. I think i'm gonna go def.

awesome. I sent the other IDMAX to ID on tuesday to get it re-coned, and when i get it back, i'll wire them to 1 ohm, put them in a sealed box, and they'll get about 600-700 watts a piece. Good thing I used 25 ft^3 of edead v1 and a gallon of black edead v3 in my trunk!!

Why ported with an IDMAX? I'm not a fan of ported boxes at all...they sound great at the one frequency they're tuned to, but sealed takes the cake when playing a more broad range of frequencies.

well I have a sealed box that's made for two of them, but I only have one at the moment, and the guy i'm buying the amp from has an extra ported box that was for his 12" XXX so he's giving it to me so i can use it for the single IDMAX.

I didnt expect this from you dude... If you tune them low enough you can get linear response thru the entire frequency range with increased effiiancy and output.
