Default WRX or SRT4

Whats to say between the SRT4 and the WRX? Im thinking that WRX is better but i wanted to get some advice from actual owners. Which is a better overall car and about what is the power difference between the two when tehy are dyno'ed stock? Also was wondering what the turbo in the srt4 is? I know the wrx comes with the stock mitsubishi turbo which isnt much but better than no turbo whats the srt4 come with?

Test drive both of them!

The SRT-4 also uses a Mitsu Turbo
( I want to say TD05H-16G, not 100% sure ). The right car for you is exactcly that, the right car for you .
As far as personal opinion goes, WRX hands down. I do not like FWD for one, I'm not a big Dodge fan in general, and I like the
EJ-20 flat motor with AWD.
Here's some comparison #'s (SCC tests)
Srt-4 223WHP
WRX 189WHP

SRt-4 256 lb/ft
WRX 199lb/ft

0-60
Srt-4 5.8 sec
WRX 5.2 sec

1/4 mi
Srt-4 14.0 @100.5
WRX 14.6 @91.8

Braking 60-0
Srt-4 117 ft.
WRX 115ft

I'm sure you know about the two cars in general, I think the
EJ-20 is stout from the factory, and if upgraded correctly, can be a reliable monster. The SRT-4, I've read the article on the teardown of the engine, and heard all good things, over engeneered everything. Strong crank (Mopar Drag uses stock one), Piston cooling oil squirters, strong rods, it's basically a re-done PTcruiser 2.4L with the turbo settup.
They both have good aftermarket suppourt.
I could be here all day arguing both sides.

thanks for the responses that has swayed my decision more towards wrx. I have driven a friends wrx before but not a srt4 so i was just curious as to how they panned out in the comparison. thanks for the feedback. im most likely going to get a wrx then and just do some intake and exhaust mods, and maybe a turbo upgrade if money allows it.

no need to waste money on an intake.

WEELLLLLL!!! If you are serious about power and don't mind voiding the warranty, eliminate like 2 of the 3 cats on it. That will get you like 50+ right there alone. Exaust and intake would probably help it breath better. Then get a boost controller and run a few more lbs. For a turbo, maybe think about the sti one, it's only around 1k. This site is helpful, though prices are kinda steep.

This site has some cheaper parts that are virtually the same.

your not gonna get 50+ hp from removing the cats, the only thing an intake will do is lean it out and throw off the MAF reading since most replace the maf housing with a larger diameter one, itll make some power, but not safe power, and no more than a drop in filter in an airbox that has the snorkus removed.

heh heh.... maybe I streteched the truth... but you can get around 30hp and like 20 lbs of torque from an exaust that takes the cats out.

Yes, do not get an "intake" like everyone does for every other car out there. It just isn't worth it on a WRX.
* Be careful with a boost controller too!
