Default 996TT goes down to C5

All right people...after lurking on this board for some time, and reading stories about countless "Vette kills" (...oh this cockyazz old man in vette...& cocky vette guy goes down...yadd yadda...), I thought I'd post a kill of my own just to even things out a bit.

Actually, the story involved 2 kills. It all happened a few Saturdays ago, on the day I was scheduled to dynotune at Norris' shop. My car had been dumping fuel whenever the cats overheated, and sounded like a popcorn machine everytime nitrous was engaged.

(Part 1)
So I was cruising with the top off, heading east bound on the I-4, with my cousin in the passenger seat. We noticed a bike narrowing the gap from about a 1/2 mile back. As he pulled alongside us, he gave a few healthy revs. I turned & looked at my cousin, and he was already grinnin from cheek to cheek. Keep in mind that I have much respect for bikers, as I am one mylself, so I wasn't going to do anything that would endanger his life. He proceeded to take off and weave in & out of traffic into the opening up front. So I followed. As soon as we were side by side, he took off. I downshifted into 2nd instantly (~50mph), and broke his momentum. But this guy had already gotten about a car length jump on me. I grabbed 3rd, and started reeling him in. By the top of 3rd, he was at my rear fender. Then I banged 4th, and continued to put about 4 lengths on him before shutting down. Okay, note to self, 139 mph with the top off is too CRAZY, lol. :o Anyway, I slowed her down and shifted over into the slow lane. The biker pulled next to me, and we both gave each other a big thumbs up! Cool guy! I believe it was a ZX-7R (but don't hold me to it.) Either way, he wasn't expecting that.

(Part 2)
Well, after a whole day at Norris', and getting everything fine tuned on the LS1 Edit, my car was running great. We squeezed almost 10 more rwhp on N/A, and 1 rwhp/10 rwtq more on the juice. The cat overheat function was deactivated as part of the tuning also. So needless to say, both me and cousin were eager to test out the juice. We hopped back on the I-4, westbound, and headed home. My cousin was like, "Hey, let's see what this baby can do." But I denied him, and said, "Let's not waste the juice, but keep an eye out for a victim!"

Low and behold, about 20 minutes into our ride, I noticed the "Purdiest" damn xenon lights zeroing in from behind. In my mind, I was thinking, "Great, another wanna be racer in a boxter or boxter s." But man, I was pleasantly surprised when it pulled next to me. This was a brand new, dark purple 996 TT, with a gray --> white haired gentleman driving it. We gave him a thumbs up, and he returned the gesture. I immediately downshifted 3rd, and blipped the throttle to see if he's game....and HE WAS! I reached back, and opened the bottle up. Ooo, it was nice and warm from the blanket. The pressure was a perfect 1100 psi.

(Just so you know, for some weird reason, I get all pumped up everytime I run into the 911 turbos. I don't know why? But I guess I just have respect for those cars. Or maybe it's the "Tastiest" of meats, lol. )

So this guy downshifted, and the turbo whine from his car was absolutely sick. I gave him the go ahead, and counted 3 seconds in my head. 1 -- 2 -- 3 Oh man, he had pulled about 2 1/2 lengths ahead. So I smashed the go pedal, still in 3rd. The nitrous engaged, and pinned both me and my cousin into our seats. I felt a slight head rush from the instant 521 ftlbs of torque, lol. This porsche wasn't going anywhere. We overtook him by the top of 3rd. I mean, FLEW by him. I granny shifted 4th at 6K, then 5th. We stretched the lead by at least 15 lengths before shutting down. WHAT A RUSH!!! :o

A little bit later, the 911 caught back up. I had my thumbs up out the window before he even got next to me. And as he pulled up, (here's the good part), the driver was leaned out of the passenger window, waving and giving me the thumbs up! HAHAHA, I guess he was impressed! Definitely a cool porsche guy, and know a fast car when he sees one.

That's it....for now. Hope you enjoyed!

911's taste like Chikin! (well at least I can pick on the non-turbo's LOL!)

Nice Kill, and good description!
