If someone tried to take anything of mine it would be an ideal time to release a lot of pent up rage on the perpetrator as long as they are not much larger or holding a gun.
Save the running retreat for if they get the better of ya and you get poked or sliced.
Life gives you very few opportunities to give someone a righteous ass beating that won't land you in jail or facing charges of assault.
Next time you walk the streets in the evening I recommend carrying a 4 or 5 battery mag-lite to help fight your way through the darkness.
