My engine literally disintegrated a rod an par of a piston on cortez in bradenton (on my way to work on another car lol) And I drove it a good 5 miles with zero oil pressure, 3 cylinders, a terrible vacuum leak (no piston or destroyed head) and a nice big hole in the block and oil pan.
It not only made it there running at 50mph, could have gone faster, but it started when I yanked the engine out a month later...and pulled into the garage to get it out!
Through the hole in the block I could see a chunk of rod with a bent wrist pin. about 5 more large chunks of rod, a chunk of piston skirt..and a rod bolt that went through the oil pan but didnt make it all the way and was hanging out the side.. When I looked up in the cylinder I could see the piston still in the bore with the oil ring showing on half of it...
These things really dont give up.
