Oer here in Lakeland where the mullet is served often I came upon the opportunity to race a purdy black Prelude Si.
enough of the hick accent.. sorry for the sound effects

Anyhow Im sportin my automatic 97 Mustang GT with so few mods youd call it stock (not even an exhaust here)... driving around with two friends just past 2am.
Were trying to find ANYONE wholl race and I mean ANYONE were so bored its dumb. I finally come across a guy in a Prelude whos exhaust sounds GOOD for a 4-banger. I get beside him and gun it to get his attention. He notices and a few minutes later gives me a fly-by and I get in behind him b/c hes signalling to turn. I follow him to another part of town with less PD and we end up on Bartow Hwy heading south... about in front of Lakeland High we both slow to 30ish and whammo! hes off and I bog a carlengthh behind him. We stop aside one-another a few lights down and he asks what year and all and says he expected to lose. I explain the automatic situation and ask for another go at it. We couldnt go from a stop because someone turned out in front of me at hte light and we pull off tamely. This time I keep it in second and signalled with 3 honks for the start. Off we go! I let him hit it first so Id have no doubts.

Torque wins folks as I pulled a carlength his VTEC brought him to speed and he stayed at my back wheel until he let off at 110...
I wish I had a 5 speed.

I dont recall seeing the bright red Si emblem so I suppose I am mistaken. However I do recall the grey VTEC sticker on the upper left of the rear end.

Ive been to books-a-million all of twice and then there werent too many people up there. I LIVE in Gainesville and visit family in Lakeland on occassion maybe well run into each other (not literally). Ill keep an eye out for you.
Oh I can be distinguished from ALL the other red mustangs out there by black MUSTANG GT lettering on the rear valence and 3 magnetic decals on the rear... International Motorsports Kumho Tires and SCCA... I suppose there arent too many of my body style with Bullitt rims either.

I think Ive seen you around...the Bullit rims on your year car Ive definately seen. Ill be sure to make the car sneeze at you if I see you. Just look for a Silver stock-looking GSX with SpeedTech on the windshield and exhaust.

I think I know the kid youre talking about. I raced him a couple times with my Celica GTS and beat him. Were going to arrange a better meeting spot with a smaller core group of people that actually have nice performance-oriented cars in a couple months when a few cars get some finishing touches done. The domestic guys meet on Fridays @ KMart on S. FL about 9-10ish usually.

Oh and watch out for the Zen Performance ricers riding around...they are spreading like wild-fire. The <16.5 second mafia!

actually the first prelude vtecs were titled prelude Si vtec.
the later ones eventually were just called vtec.

There are also two red GSTs thatve seen my ass-end but one guy had enough boost to catch me finally... Luckily both their low ends are SO bad

The best of the two I pulled 2 cars and finally lost that lead at 110ish. That was going down 37 from the light at Shepard Rd. We ended up just before the reservation golf course when we both spotted (luckily) a cop car and one of those you are going XX speed detectors that was broken. The cop car was an empty decoy.

The other one was a shorter race so I got to keep the lead but his guy held closer overall as I ended it with one car length. We were on Kathleen Rd heading from the light at Montrose toward I-4 overpass.

I am rambling...
