Well this story is a different one a drift culture 240 with no engine mods done to it belonging to my friend Jason had a heck of an encounter with a late model 97-> accord v6.

My friend Jay and I were on our way to our drifting spot when we came across a newer green accord that was lowered had a spoiler and rims on it. Feeling like being stupid we pull up in the opposing lane at the stop light and rev a little bit. It wasnt until I realized that the dual exhaust meant V6 that I actually saw the V6 badging on it. So I tell jay to see what hes got the first time. Smiling we both agreed it would be fun to mess with this guy since there were a couple lights in both directions that we were headed. As we left the first light there was no launch for us and the H car led the poor s13 by about 3 lenghts. It kind of surprised me how the V6 accord auto tranny and all was still able to accelerate with that rate. Jay pissed off that his 5sp 150hp ka24e couldnt even pull an accord decided this had gone too far. We line up at the next light and this time it was on. Rpm held at about 2900 first gear ready and as the light dropped both the 240sx and the Accord sped off with great launches from both sides at least in my opinion. ( little wheel spin hard accel g forces felt by a non turbo vehicle) Except this time the Ka24E single overhead cam Truck engine was spun for all it was worth. Oil burning rings letting us know that drag racing is not its thing Jay spurred it and shifted at 6500 allowing the meatier portion of the powerband to wake up. The Accord reved for all he was worth and by about 80mph we gained just about a carlenght and a half on him. (12 feet total maybe??) Not a whole lot but still it was a win. And a big one at that because Jay felt alot better about his 240sx after the race then when he was passed by the Accord before. Accord got pissed when he saw the flashers and turned off at the next available area.

So I guess maybe you guys figure ok this is a 240sx stock it should be quick. Youre probably right but this particular S13 has a bit of a story behind it. A tired old Ka24 with no mods whatsoever. In an attempt to produce a very nice torquey drift car suspension has come first. After that comes our task: Finding a Ka24DE motor that someone wants to get rid of. In the world of Domestic thinking (USA Style) weve decided a good cam and higher compression will produce better torque then the T25 equipped sr20det and better yet more tractable torque. The fast car is my turbo 300zx we both race that the fun car is the S13. Try as I may Ill never outhandle that car even if it was on brand new stock suspension and I was on a full coilover kit. It just has the better balance.

Sorry to make this so long but I really hope somebody in here can feel the same kind of excitement we had as the old KA beat down some rice. PS. Does anybody know what kind of times those V6 accords run and how you think the S13 would have done at the tracK??

 

wasup guys. i am the jason from above ^^^ im not new to racing or driving fast but have a fast car is new. just to clear it up.... first race vs accord wasnt sure if he was gonna go...after all it was on a left turn light and i didnt go until after turn so i shifted way early....the next light never saw him in the peripheral vision..... i also have a probe to my credit not GT but hey first race was the probe and i got about 2-3 cars so all that matters is that first race = win = confidence ill be around see ya

2. IS there a DOHC 240? Is this just extra space?

Ooops. I keep forgetting that not everyone in here is a nissan maniac the way I am. FEI the 89 90 240sx was a sohc 2.4L after that they were twincammed. The sohc motor is an absolute pig stock it revs very sluggishly and just does not feel like a nissan motor in general. The twincammed one is the one to have unless youre an sr20det fan.

 

Ok so we are both wrong. its 140hp. at least Ive found like 140 websites saying so 240sx.org is no fn help they are stupid and need to make a better website.
