What a fricken pathetic race this was. CRiX B16a and I are rolling up Dale Mabry with her Dad and brother in the back seat of our Civic. Even though it was Saturday night with a full car a hungry stomach and wet roads we were doing everything but flexing. At the light at Columbus and DM a black 99 Si(?) with red DOHC VTEC lettering on the side lowered on stock Si wheels tint stock exhaust and a OEM rear wing pulls next to us. I didnt really give it a second look considering the conditions. They sat there bumpin their stereo ever louder by the second. Light goes green and I gingerly pull off the line rev to 4k or so and shift to second. I notice he is purposely staying right next to us like he wants to run.
A little background on my Civic - its a EX with leather crappy tires broken motor mounts a GSR swap a few bolt ons and blown rings. It looks nice but doesnt move with any authority. It dynod out at a sorry 138hp which is less than stock (its in really bad shape). On a really good day this car might run a 15.5 with just me in it. You could imagine how painfully slow it would be with a car full of passengers!
So I drop what little a hammer I have at this point just to see him run by me. I hear him gun it and not really go anywhere. Im lugging around 4k and its dead even as I pass into VTEC @ 4400rpm. At this point I start to pull ever so slightly. Feeling spunky I stay into it venturing into the 5k range. I keep waiting for him to pull on me what with me lugging around 600lbs in passengers on top of my 2750 curb weight but he doesnt. He lags around but still on it. I then pass into mosquito fogger mode (5800rpm secondary s/o point) where my car begins to bellow smoke from Mobil non synthetic being injested. I continue pulling on him and I start laughing as I approach 8k rpm. It took far longer for us to start and finish this race as it did for you to read it. I finished up 2nd gear with nearly a car length seperating us. I then let off for fear of running out of oil or running into the Men in Blue. The Si hangs back and doesnt even do a ricer fly by. Amazing...
So I now have 2 win notches in my sorry Civic the other being a top end race with a 240sx. And Im still in disbelief...

Im 90% positive the Focus would rape my car and I know it would kick the shit outta the car I raced.
BTW Im not positive it was an Si. It did have the painted moldings wheels and badging but I did not check for rear disc brakes. But it appeared to be an Si.

If it had red lettering it had to be aftermarket. Notik eyoudidnt know that but Im trying to appl y my little knowledge! and reach the post plateau. Lip spoiler is also a fun way to tell.

I think I know who it was. Try to think if it said DOHC or SOHC on the side. If so I know who the offender is.
