I know everybody is thinking a Neon but last night and this morning I raced two Neons and I wont look at them in quite the same way.
Last night coming home from Snatch awesome movie I saw a Neon coming up on me I thought he was flooring it so I just matched his speed then he floored it and started to gain quick. I was going about 70 mph I guess when I floored it and he stayed even for awhile then I started to pull on him. I would say his trap speed was in the 98 mph range or so. I have raced stock lt1s that werent as fast as this Neon. I caught a light with the Neon and this time pulled about 3-4 cars to about 90 mph.

This moring I saw another Neon and we raced but I was behind him and he floored it from a stop. I passed him a put about a car on him by the time I got to about 70 mph.

I didnt have a chance to talk to them I wish I did but watch out for a couple of quick Neons in town.

Actually Neons can be quick. Theres a couple guys that swapped in the Dodge Avenger 2.4 liter motor that run mid 12s at Moroso. I dont know of anybody whos done that around here though.

I found a website that makes turbo kits for the Neon one of them ran 11.7 @ 119 mph quite fast for a neon.

 

i must say ths opening line to the topic made me giggle but after reading i may just wanna watch myself around some neons...11.7 thats damn good for a neon!

The first one I raced was at night I think it was blue it looked like it was being primed ready for a nice paint job.

They both looked kind of the same it could have been the same car if it is thats funny I raced him at night and in the morning. The driver of the car in the morning was a older looking person didnt look like someone young.

 

Fastest NEON going is the HAHNracecraft NEON of Lenny Ayala. This car is fully streetable. I watched him run a low 11 at the Mopar Nats in Columbus Ohio this year. He is now in the 10.5 @ 136mph range with more on tap for 01. He uses the 2.0 liter DOHC engine that came in the car... obviously not stock though... Nice guy to talk to... hell tell ya anything you want to know.

 

Ive had a lot of respect for neons for quite some time now. My buddy has an R/T and with a few very simple mods he was just as fast as my VR6 was when it was stock. I could pull on him a bit in the top end but still I was VERY impressed!

 

I would say this Neon was in the mid 14 range with a trap speed in the 98 range. I dont think he had nitrous but not sure.

 

There is one around town that is black that his licence plate reads OSOFAST. He had NOS and I think put a turbo on it from what I last heard.
