Default 99 subaru LGT vs turbo honda

So i'm driving home from sarasota today and next to me at the last light on roosevelt is a black 1997-2001???(older ex i think, debadged with somewhat heavy dude driving) turbo honda, and knowing how cops love that light, especially the ghey highway troopers that think they are invisible, plus the fact that I'd seen the guy's FMIC as he was pulling up, I decided to wave him off and not race, fearing my ass being handed to me on a stupid race...

So he chirps his tires and kinda waits to see if i'll go with him, but I don't, but slows down and temps me again before the curve where it merges with ulmerton, again i delined(passing him on the turn), and noticed some serious black smoke coming from this dudes exhaust, and we come to the next light, which is red and being polite i roll down the windows and ask what he's got. he says he's stock internals (sohc), but turbo'd.

So i reply that i've got no turbo, just the 2.5 litre, but what the hell, lets go for it and let them run, seemed cool, so if i'm going to go down, i wanted to see where i stood, having a lil work done to the car recently.

The light turns green and we're off, I jump ahead, his front bumper at my rear, and stretch it through first to a full car length. After that I didn't see him in my mirrors until he started pulling on me after 65, and I let off after 70 as he was going to just continue to pull on me (and cops)

I went into it completely expecting to lose (I think he expected me to lose too) but pulled a draw? how would you guys call that?

if you're on here, wtf happened dude? you said you knew about the smoke... was it related to that? definately want to run again once i have the juice hooked up, just waiting on a tach driver to get it done.

lol, so is that a win for me or him?

seriously though, what is the etiquite here, does he who goes fastest the winner, even if its an eventual thing? like i know i watch movies on here all the time that show cars winning the race for the first 5 seconds, then the clip ends before the race is over, and i'm left thinking...wait, did the other guy catch up at the end?

people will see it in different ways. some may think that because you let off before he passed you, that you didnt win, some will think the opposite. some people let off at their track trap speed, because they dont run faster than that MPH at the track, so they've beat them by the 1/4 mile mark. if you dont have any set agreement before the race, that leaves it open to interpretation and excuses. just have fun, who cares what people say.

I would call that an involuntary manslaughter more than a kill. But your not on a track so if he wanted to beat you he should have put more into it from the get-go instead of trying to win in the last 30 ft.

I say you got him! The black smoke just means he had fuel to spare LOL

actually your run sounds exactly like my run with joe(i'm slow), we ran on a stretch of road that has alot of cops. i pulled 1-1.5 cars thru 2nd and 3rd, and just as he was about to pass me, i let off. but we were comming up to the point were the cops sit. i know he can take me, so i didnt consider it a win, but he didnt win either. haha
