2000 Corolla vs 1994 Civic hatch
I was in the downtown area heading to the beach... Guy in his civic hatch lines up next to me at a light and we both take off casually, no biggie. All of a sudden he decides to floor it and shift to second just to meet the red light waiting for him. I was shaking my head and smirking a bit...
Once again, we line up at the light. My car is a 2000 Corolla 5spd making about 90-100whp, I also had the wifey with me which adds a bit of weight, so the car itself is about 2500 plus 2 people = 2800lbs. Anyways, street was clear, nothing in front of us, so i decide to see what he does. To my surprise
he punches it off the light, I let him get about half a CL while i save my clutch, once engaged I catch up to him and we shift basically at the same time into second. We stayed exactly even up to about 80 which is when I had to cut off and make my turn. I expected him to pull through every gear, since he weighs about 300lbs less than me and is making about the same power I suppose. All in all, good run for my econobox.
