Z vs Cop's Crown Vic
I was coming back from Dale Mabry's Barnes & Nobles from studying some fire science stuff... I had the T tops off, jamming to Michelle Branch "Breathe".. yes i said jamming to Micheele Branch.... anyways so im trying to sing in key with her as I pull up to a stop light.. Im in the left lane and theres a car infront of me and no cars to the right. And going through my head what chords make up this song.. Because it sounds weird to me.. It sounds like the guitar is tuned 1/4 of a step up (1 sharp) with a capo... Anyways, so im not paying much attention to the light and I notice the car ahead of me start to go... My Z28 has a semi-aggressive clutch in it and Im away to busy working with this song to be feathering the clutch to try and accelerate all smooth. Plus the song bridge was ending and Michelle was about to get all crazy back into the chorus... And you know how Michelle Branch songs pump you up and get the adrenaline juices flowing... you know what im talking about... So... As the car ahead of me begins to accelerate I take off.... Out of the corner of my eye I see a glimmer of light.. Refracted light coming off the side badge of the crown vic in my peripheral soon becomes clearer as he's walking me about 1/2 car length.... But by this time its too late... My right foot already activated 1/4 throttle, my left foot released the clutch abruptly, the injectors have already supplied their fuel, and the static potential energy stored in the fuel turns kinetic as the spark ignites the near perfect surface to mass ratio fuel spray pattern, and in that exact moment Michelle Branch hits her high octave going back into the final chorus.... I can see the police officer look over as the no longer anywhere near stock Z28 points her noise towards the sky and begins her path to acceleration... The Crown Vic was already in a good 7-10mph roll passing and had about 1/2 car length... But this was all about to change very shortly..... The Z shot up and out about a good 25 mph ending the crowns vic's 1/2 car lead while continuing to put a 1/2 car lead on the crown vic... And like being burned by a scolding object my reflex kicked in and pulled my foot away from the gas pedal... I cringed... and then sunk down into my seat... Not sure why... But maybe if he couldnt see me in my seat he might not pull me over cuz no one was there..?...
So the Crown Vic admitting its defeat bows down and makes a graceful exit..... right behind me..... Obviously still captivated by such a car that could stand up to its authority the Crown vic wanted to get the name of this adversary. And with that the cop ran my plates "SLOW LT1".... Because of her generally tame nature, (Just because you have the power doesnt mean you have to use it) she came up clean. This is something I will try to avoid doing again needless to say.
