all things stock....
E60 M5 > E39 M5 / E46 M3 (they are both fairly close in performance)...
If you want to really run an M3, go to Miami and try to find "Active Autowerke". Ask if you can run against their cars
I personally wouldnt bother running anything I hear the PSSH PSSH from, at least until I've got it myself. Waste of gas considering how easy it is these days for anyone to pick up a budget rocket and up the boost

DJBEN ur right active autowerkes do have some nice cars but i have yet to see an e46 run sub 11's. last time i checked the fastest was running high 11's. Now e36's watchout for, they are some fast ones around.
Good kill... Im sure that was an ego buster to the owner... gotta love it

There is a guy in California who has the fastest 1/4 mile time now, you probably saw jmweb's time in a phoenix yellow m3 in miami which got a time of 11.98, which was recenly beat with 11.972 by the california guy tazam3. Both times could be a lot better -- jmweb's car was SMG which is terrible for launching at the drag strip, and tazam3's car was run at a poor track 2700ft above sea level. Both cars have the yet-to-be-released active stage III SC kit.
An ace driver in stock m3 can get into the high 12s, so those times can definetally get better. For the most part though it is a low-13 second car.
For the money it takes to SC the e46 m3 you could put together a separate car (or two) that would spank it in the 1/4. For the money I paid for my car I could have put together a fleet of cars that would own it so don't worry, there are probably no bruised egos on the BMW owner's part unless he made a mistake buying a new M3 thinking it was a fast car
