My boy used to have a GT Probe back in the day. After ticking with that car, I can say that they shift good and respond well.
The only mod that really made a difference in that car is an intake filter with a 3" ram air duct and Redline MT90 in the transmission. Forget the exhaust and headers, cause we found you will be slower light to light in return for higher top end.. So its not worth it.
As far as the GTI turbo... they dont always run right... although the Probe will give you its best every time.. so I'm not surprised you beat that Volkswagon kid.
