Mercedes CL 65 AMG
So I was on my way home tonight and as I look in my mirror I see some bright ass HID headlights coming up pretty quick in the lane next to me. This car passed me and it sounded almost like a damn McClaren F1. So I switch lanes and start to catch up to him as he slowed down. Needless to say I had already driven by my turn. I pull up to his door and as I look over he punches it. Definately caught me off guard, I didnt even have time to downshift. I wanted to run him but as soon as he steped on it I was in awe watching that beast go. I didn't even step on the gas. He gets caught at the next redlight and I pull up next to him and ask him what the hell is under the hood. His reply? V12 Twin Turbo...I complimented him on his sweet ass ride and made the right hand turn to head home. After watching that thing go I knew I had no chance. The guy was cool, he looked like he was in his 50s. This car totally surprised me, I have never seen any Mercedes run like that.

yes, the torque on those is alot more impressive than the hp number.. its has more torque than most factory diesels and at a very low rpm too..
i drive those all the time at work....they are very impressive, along with the SL65...which is the smaller convertible, same motor....too much money though...

738Ft. Lbs of torque from 1600RPMS to over 4400RPMS.
AMG had to de-tune the torque so the tranny MIGHT stand a chance of living through the warrenty. A chipped "65" makes around 880Ft LBS. of torque and the driveshaft becomes the "short term" weak link.
The Timing is retarded during shifting, which drops torque upto 60% until the next gear in engauged, then it adds the timing back; All that happens in micro seconds.
With Slicks the SL65 is 10sec capable BONE STOCK. Without slicks, they are between 11.8 and 12.4...
I've drived the "weaker" 5.5L supercharged CL55. It only has 490hp and 516FT. LBS. of torque and only runs 12.60s on stock tires... Its was a F--king rocket !!! Seen the brakes on these things !!!!??
The CL/SL65 is deffinately the baddest lux/sports/rocket cars money can buy, but since the 65 are $180K and the "cheaper" CL55 is ONLY $130K, you can pretty much bet that street racing one is a rare deal...
The AMG new SLK "ant no joke" either, even the standard SLKs are pretty fast...
