Yeah...races many times are "negotiated". Thats not unheard of. id say half the races I have ever done have been "negotiated". usually giving up the hit or a car or two.
I remember racing Mr2 way back in the day on a side road. No one was racing and he asked me if I wanted to run. I said no since I was on regular radials. Then he talked me into it. I gave up a car, the hit, and i was not allowed to use juice and it was about 3/8 of a mile. He kicked my ass on that one. Good thing that wasnt for money.

Exactly...it's about trying to get the race as evenly matched as possible without giving to much up and still making sure that you should win and walk away with the money after everything is said and done. It can be really fun to watch 2 different people negotiate the terms of a run when they both know what they are doing.
It's pretty much the same as watching people get peddled at the end of a race. I remember when any real race you watched was only ever won by a fender or less. Why show your full hand if you don't need to. Especially if you can get the same guy to come back the following week to run you because he "almost" had you.

I also remember seeing a few motorcycle guys get "sucked in" by someone with a very fast old school car. The car was probably a mid 9 second car...and may have been that fast on the street.
The owner walked up to the bike owners and said "them things fast?" acting dumb. The bike guys took it hook line and sinker. They got the fastes bike (929) to run...and put all thier cash together in a pot. The only thing...the old school car guy asked for the move. Surely the bike would run him down anyways...right?
They lined up...both did a bit of a burnout....when they where both ready....the old school car yanked the wheels and bounced down gandy...he was GONE! The bike got on it for about 15 yards and just shut it down
he knew he had been had. They paid up and went on thier merry way. Ohhh the good old days

well i dont know about the old days....im too young.....im just making the transition from ricing to racing....and i wouldnt mind running poeple for what they got......dig or roll i dont care....i think if terms need to be set beyond a point there is no need to run......i say the only thing to talk about is roll or dig....after that is run what ya brung
