Got some good runs in with a silver sl55 amg on 1st ave n last night (gotta love the one way street) heading back towads the beaches after leaving downtown st pete.... and i see some headlights behind me coming, quick, this guy is hauling ass and passes me so i catch and after a couple lights we are able to line up.... for all those who know, im still in the process of breaking in my new setup, so need less to say im running pump gas only 14psi and im untuned.... with all that said and done, we go first from a roll (insert supra joke here) damn that thing is quick and damn that thing is loud (questioning whether its stock or not) but anyway i pull out about 1 1/2 cars on him and hold it til 120-130ish and we let off.... we catch a light, so we go from a dead stop....that thing has a nasty first gear and jumps out like 3 cars on me.... so that one didnt last long, went back to catch up again, and when im about 1 1/2 cars behind him, he guns it....we go to about 120-130ish again and i caught up and was door to door with him.... had another good run which was cut short, because some cars were parked out to far out and i had to hit my brakes and swerve to miss it .... after the adrenaline had gone away, my buddy turns to me, was like that was awesome....well i was kinda wondering why i was losing a lot of power in between shifts....i like down and my traction control had been on the whole time....killing my powere everytime i shifted and spun the tires....DOH.... oh well it was a hell of a run, and i had fun can't wait til i get all my issues worked out

1st ave is pretty nice, both of them, i dont like the 49th and 58th? intersections, big humps, coming across 19 is pretty rough too above 45 or so. those SL55's are mid 12's or so, not to great with traps from what i could tell as one was barely pulling away when i was on the juice and trapping around 107

Good run (s)... My dad has an SL55 and I have only driven it once but there are pretty bad. Are you sure it was an SL55 and not a new SL500? There is a big difference. One I think pushes 340 and the other 495 HP. Anyways. Good runs and good luck on getting your quirks worked out.

 

i really doubt a SL500 beat him, with as much as i see the AMG's around here, it was more then likely a SL55.

 

If it's the same silver SL55 that lives by me it's bad ass. I'll see if I can get a pic of it tomorrow. Good runs by the way...
