Amen !
Especially when the car is question is a Supra since they are the suck from a dig 99% of the time.
AFAIK this is the fastest six speed street Supra

That percentange is more 60% percent of the time. And that is cause the owner doesn't put anything into the car to make it launch better. Now around here most supra's are six speed's and yes they are very difficult to launch but not impossible.
You have not yet seen a properly set up auto Supra on the track around here and when this happens you will see that it's a totally diffrent story.
There are plenty of fast auto supras running mid 9 sec 1/4( in street trim) just not around here at least not yet.
You seem to have somekind of issues with Supra's
It's getting old.

Exactly...this Supra in question is a six speed. For him to run the #s stated ( high 8s low 9s) would be a phenominal feat. There is a reason there are almost NO cars of any type with stock type clutch shifted tranny below the mid 9s. The difficulty level goes way up. Proshifted and race manuals are a different story.
It helps to know what equipment a car has to guess the potential ET he could be running. AFAIK that Supra has a stock tranny..in that case its unlikely he will ever get beyond the 9.7-10.0 range..especiallly if he does no weight reduction. Not due to the tranny not holding...just due to the fact that he must SHIFT it. If he did alot of well thought out suspension mods and was a top notch driver...getting mid 9s may be possible....but extremely difficult.
Once you get to low 10s..in a high powered streetcar...it becomes more about what concessions your willing to make. Such as how much weight your willing to remove, how much of a race suspension and clutch setup/gearing your willing to deal with to be fast.

I agree with Al. There is only so much you can do with a 6 speed. Not all of us want to make crazy sacrifices. Once you get past 10.5 at say 135mph it takes a lot to just get to 10 flat and a crazy amount of tuning, horsepower and suspension to get in the 9's. It just looks easy.

Actually Al SW had the fastest 6 speed street supra. The one you are showing is the quickest 6 speed. You ask what the difference is..?? TRAP SPEED..
http://www.turboimports.com/swst88supra.html
SW's TurboImports.com/Performance-Motorsports T72 Supra shocked the import world by running a 9.81 @ 153.58mph on a stock bottom end. The head has NEVER been off this car. This run was made on high boost and an small 70hp shot of NOS. The two previous runs were 10.06@152.70 and 10.02@154.10. These three runs mark only the second time this car has been to the track! This is a full weight, full interior street car which SW took his little girl to school, then 12 hours later, runs a 9.81 @ 153.58mph.

Yep I have a issue with Supra's I hear all of these hypothetical 1/4 times yet never see anyone put up. Peak numbers mean jack shit in the overall scheme of things and it looks like I am not the only one that thinks this. Not saying it is impossible to make them fast in the 1/4 (because I have seen it) but there are only one of those cars for every 8,000 "high powered" dyno queens out there. They seem like nice cars but given their price ten years ago they had better be.
When I see some more of these dyno queens at the track busting off some good e.t.'s maybe my mind will change, until then talking about what they might be able to do in the 1/4 is actually what is getting old.
