Unhappy its over

this afternoon coming across howard franklin i got in a race with a green del sol, not much traffic around, and i was bored so we both jumped on it and im slowly pulling away when i see something laying in the road in his lane...by the time i saw it, it was too late, i heard the loud explosion of his tire bursting and him ramming into the side of me causing my back end to push and spinning me out...then i proceeded to watch as i was nose to nose with the del sol and me frantically trying to cut the wheel to correct the spin and apply the brakes but it was too late, we both careened into the wall at an estimated 65mph from what the wreck investigators said, i guess they looked at the skid marks or something. the vette is totaled, and i honestly believe i was lucky to survive with just a few stitches and a dislocated shoulder. the del sol is demolished aswell, the airbag had knocked him unconscious and his girlfriend bruised her brain from the impact against the windshield. the wreck occured a little after we jumped on it, so i dont think anyone really noticed that we were racing.

as this was a fictional story, and i am alright (which im sorry to disappoint some) the fact is, at any point in time this can happen to you, and the story could be much worse...i know i will race from time to time, its just how i am and i know others are the same way, but please folks, be careful out there, especially with bike riders around. sorry if i scared anyone or got their hopes up ...reason i posted this is i saw a real bad accident today, and i just lost a dear friend saturday night from a seisure and it just ticked in me to make a constructive "war story" that might help enlighten some to the risks they take, even though they know they take them, i dont think some truly understand the severe consequences they might have to endure. have a safe holiday everyone.

Damn...you almost got me! Except I knew it was a lie when you said you were pulling on the Del Sol
But thats one way to get your point across. Definately be careful.

I really dont think that story was funny or you should joke about it. I'm glad you are ok. I'm sure there is a better way to get your point across.

there probably are better ways...but wouldnt you rather me get my point across over the internet instead of the road? it wasnt meant to be funny, it was meant to be a reality check that no one is invincible on the road.

Thanks for the advice mom.

I didn't get anything out of it other than a sigh of relief that it was a fictional story. Maybe some of the less mature drivers will get something out of it though

Good read Kenny, and my $0.02:
This shows the reality and danger not only street racing has, but driving in general. As far as I'm concerned the Bay area is only second to Turkey in reguards to danger on the roads. People around here are too distracted with cell phone, makeup, music and alcohol to pay attention when driving. I average one near miss a week, mostly on the weekends with people running red lights, not looking when changing lanes and my favorite, turning into traffic to slowly. Remeber these things when you are "testing and tuning", and don't forget the snowbirds!!!!!!!!!!!!!:o

lets add in "aggressive" driving as well.... practice your "wangan" skills somewhere else damn it... yeah ive seen my share of close friends get into stupid accidents... and grateful for myself not getting involved i have decided street racing and any other horsing around on public roads simply isnt worth it...
