If you are dropping 12 grand then you should be in the 10's. Will this be done by trackday?

And you will need slicks or ET streets. Or at the minimum some BFG drag radials. Once you get down to the low 11s its another ballgame. But you will be able to get there..no doubt.

I'll still race you. Then when i get 12 grand to put in my car we will race again. From what i already have 12 grand will put me very deep in the 10's. So the battle continues

If you picked parts wisely you could get an LS1 in the 10 for about ~4-5 grand assuming you did the work yourself.

Basic weight reduction & free mods $free
With the above I could make 370+ on motor and 550+ rwhp on the juice. Good enough for high 120s traps.
All that and a little luck will get you there...but only temporarily as you will need a tranny upgrade if your an A4. Both A4 and M6 will eventually need a rear end too.
I didnt list suspension because I ran a 10.7 at 131 on a bone stock suspension way back in the day.
When you start having the work done for you it begins to add up. You can generally double the cost of the parts. So 10k-11k sounds about right
