Euro's PS13 vs Garage Battle's PS13 -- HOA!
So this battle has been meaning to take place ever since both cars have been running.. hehe.
Sunday night after dinner, we all decided finally for it to go down.
Both cars are 1989 240sx coupes that have redtop SR20DET's, fuel pumps, front mount intercoolers, good clutches, good exhausts, and stock boost. (7psi) Garage Battle's has the silvia front end which is lighter, a limited slip differential, and a stripped interior. His car is probably 100lbs lighter than Regina's, and it also has an SSPL stock rom tune. Regina's car sports a full interior and extra passenger (we were both in the car), but has a JUN lightweight flywheel as well as an 80mm o2 extension and 80mm test pipe.
We came up to a christmas tree (I was driving the Euromobile) and decided to give it a go. As the yellows dropped and green shined brightly, it was not very evident that the car I was driving had an open differential, because we were out a good car right out of the hole! Grabbing 2nd gear hard, Garage Battle gave up as we were into third gear. Being 4 cars back isn't the best way to win a race...
The second round proved to be a little bit better of a fight. This time the tires didn't want anything to do with traction, as both cars struggled for grip out of the hole. We were almost 3/4's of a car back into second gear when the larger flowing exhaust Regina has let us pull back some mid range. Into third, we pulled by very hard, as I later found out GB had some problems getting his transmission into gear.
That puts us at Regina+Matt , 2 , Garage Battle, 0.
The truth is, that the races really couldn't be decided by that. Both cars felt very strong, and racing from a roll would really tell us more about who's faster. What happened then?
When I got the jump, I was out front and held it.
When GB got the jump, He was out front and held it.
Both cars are very strong for being on 7pounds, and one can not truly pull away from the other. It comes down to who has better shifting, and better driving.
A Very good match, I hope to do it again when both cars are at 1 bar!
Thanks again GB for the great matchup, and thanks Regina for letting me drive the car we built together <3
