Street Racing Vipers & Players
This has been a very interesting day on the Forums, i've not seen this kind of banter for some time, i thought, maybe you would like to hear my side of this interesting tale.
Chris, (A.K.A.) VIPER GUY, played us Tampa guys like a good fiddle, he came into town & left with pockets bulging, how was he able to make it look so simple, simple, he played his game & won.
Lets get some engineering facts on his car, on a stock cube (488") Viper motor, with a Roe S/C, running 7lbs boost, you'll be right around 600 RWHP on pump gas, i am sure you can get maybe 1-2 lbs more boost, but can't be certain of that.
With that kind of power, you're looking at 11.1- 11.3 on street tyres with a Viper (Not the most Drag CE motor car), MPH times are going to be 131-133 with that setup.
What he does have going for him & something that every street racer needs to know, is that his car is probably the best setup car you'll come across, he'll hook on the street like you do with your drag slicks at the track, on each pass you'll be trying to catch him, he has the Kumhos on his rear, these are not the regular Kumhos, but more like the 7 series, they are a much softer compound, as sticky as drag radials, but with more meat.
There is no way, I MEAN NO BLOODY WAY, that that Viper will run in the 140's, (Let alone 150's) that's just silly, it's physically not possible, even with 850 + RHWP cars, you're not going to run that (150), not even at the track, but what he is able to do is to cut some blinding good 60' times, this is crucial on the street from a dig. By the time you've got traction & putting the power down to the ground, it's over with, he's already @ the mid way point.
There's a good reason too why you'll not likely see him go from 60 MPH rolls, he's not going to win all of those races, due to the fact "most" street cars can hook at this speed, & with quite a few cars now running 600 + RWHP, it brings on a whole new game, plus, there's a greater chance of getting beat.
I'm just trying to save my Tampa guys some hard earnt dosh!
Kurt.

It is very possible that he looked alot faster because he hooked, either way, he did a good job.
Floyd was definatly going a bit faster, but Chris was in the lead possibly making him look like he had alot more MPH.

It all comes down to people knowing thier car and being able to get others to race on their terms. He did it, he won. I mean, shit, if I could talk him into running me on the dirt or a wet road I am pretty damn sure I would win...but he knows his car enough not to bow to my terms.

ZR-1 Getting ready for it's return
After been off the road for over 6 months due to my blown engine, the ZR-1 will, or should be ready in about a week.
Should be a little bit better than last year, we done some wondefull changes to the motor, bumped up the compression & opened up the ports, also stress relieved the rings and pistons, hoping to reach a minimum of 700 HP on Motor.
The NOS will be going back on the car too, but this time, i'll be running a direct port setup, had some plenum spacer plates made with nozzles directed into the injector housing, should be able to tune it spot on, no more leaning out the motor.
It's been a long 6 months without the car, even cruising around in the Diablo isn't always as much fun as the ZR-1, (Well, not always anyway
See you guys soon.

Kurt,
I have not had some one call me out like this in years. LOL. You did this thread to save some one in Tampa $$. You got to be kidding me. What an insult to the racers out there. I love your disertation. One thing you for got. Everyone had fun, and I would hardly say $350 is " pockets bulging ". Tampa has not had this type of fun in a long time. Eather way your post on the Viper is interesting, but that does not change a thing! There is always some one that want's to run, like YOU. So hear is the deal. You run the NOVA. Who ever wins the race can race me. Or if you like you can drive your car like I did round trip on pump gas 600 + MILES and run me on my turf. So let's have some fun and give a good show to the Tampa racers you are looking to save some $$.

fun stuff.
btw, the only car that i can think of hooking really good like that would be jerry's evo5, if he runs his drag radials, he would definately make it a holeshot match since he is at 11.0 (realistically id say hes 11.5 on the streets, no one ever seems to do as good, as its obviously not as prepared).
im pretty sure jerry doesnt race for money and i havnt seen him out in a while myself, but in a theoretical race with both the viper and the evo5 getting good launches, jerry might be able to maintain a small small lead or at least keep up until about 1/8 mile where his awd will slow him a little bit. vipers are top end cars too correct? so he would definately have the extra 'umph' to probably win that one.
