Alegra Motorsports Porsche to run 2018 PWC season in GT, GT-X
[h=2]Alegra Motorsports Porsche to run 2018 PWC season in GT, GT-X[/h] Thursday, 01 February 2018
Alegra Motorsports will enter the full 2018 Pirelli World Challenge Championship season in the GT and GT-X class.
The team will be fielding the same Porsche 911 GT3R that brought them several podium finishes in the 2017 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and helped them win the coveted Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona in the GTD class.
The driver lineup for the 2018 season will include Porsche factory driver Michael Christensen, who drove for Alegra in several races in the 2017 season, including the win at the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona and a second place finish at Petit Le Mans.
Christensen will be backed up by veteran of the American sports car circuit, and Porsche specialist, Spencer Pumpelly. Pumpelly is no stranger to Alegra having driven for the team last year at select races while also anchoring the team's strategy. Most recently, Pumpelly sailed to victory in the first race of the 2018 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. Spencer also won at Lime Rock Park in the Pirelli World Challenge GT class last year.
"We had an outstanding season last year and are looking to build on that success." said team principal Carlos de Quesada. "We're thrilled to have Michael back in the driver's seat, and with Spencer on the roster we're solid."
The 10-weekend, 19-race Pirelli World Challenge calendar will visit some of the most demanding circuits in North America, including St. Petersburg, Circuit of The Americas, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Road America and Watkins Glen.
