need help finding replacement audi engine

i recently traded a set of wheels to a friend for a '97 Audi A4 Quattro with a hydrolocked 12 valve 2.8l v6 engine. having never owned a german car i've been having trouble locating a replacement engine. can anyone recommend a place locally to source one thats not ridiculously expensive? i really like this car and would like to get it driving again soon. it's waaaaaay nicer than my '97 Infiniti Q45.

ive seen them all day long ebay. audi zine and locally at the junk yard with bad auto tranny's with good running motors...
