Default engine problems

So my wife told me the other day that the engine light had popped up so I told her to go get it checked. Two out of the three shops say that it has something to do with my fuel cap or a line is leaking. But she is now going to this shop to get our a/c fixed and he is telling her that one of my coils is messing up. He reset the ecu and told her to bring it back when the light pops back up so he can find out which one it is. I told her when she goes back up there to find out what are all the codes it flashing so I can look them up myself. I just wanted to ask if any one has ran into this problem on 04 S4. Also the first two places was good friend of our that work at a shop and just read the codes for us but don't really know how to work on Audis

Go to Advanced Auto and they will read the code for free. Have them write the code(s) and look them up. Go from there. I had an 03' A4 Turbo and the coils are notorious for going out, Easy fix but costly (@ $50+ a piece) and it's good to change plugs while you're at it.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would buy used VW/Audi coils.

lol yeah i meant my old rims. But it's cool I should have been a little clearer on that! If you go to the post saying hello that I put up a while back you can see them. I just checked and it is still on the front page. They are TSW so like I said before make an offer and we can go from there. But again thanks for the insight on the coil issue we have our mech checking out that right now.

Yeah the coil would instantly throw a CEL if it were misfiring, Maybe bad plugs or a fuel filter clog. It doesnt seem like anything too serious
