Need some thought's and opinions!!
I just picked up a 97 cabrio, It's 2.0 automatic. Well this automatic shit isn't for me. So I want to switch to a five speed.
What five speed should I get? and are these a pain in the ass to convert?
The 2.0 was recently rebuilt and has almost 1500 miles on it. However I like to have a lil more ball's and I know these are sluggish motors.
I was thinking of a vr6 swap but also wondered about the 1.8t, What is going to be more budget friendly?
I am a huge fan of jetta's, golf's and cabrio's slammed on the ground, What suspension is better for these?
P.S. I bought this for less than five hundered dollars and the body is flawless.

to the O.P. don't you think swapping it to a five speed is useless if your going to swap the motor anyway?

I am well aware of the pricing for this car, This isn't my first VW. However it has been about 10 years since I have owned one.
And I don't think that swapping it to a five speed is usless, It will have to be converted at some point anyhow. So I might as well go ahead and swap while I decide what motor I'm going to go with.

I believe I will just look for a donor car, I think I'm going to just get started on the suspension and interior for now.
