Any ideas and tips on rebuilding a 12v VR6
Then this means nothing to someone if they're building an all motor VR. No experience using one on natural aspiration. Of course you'll see gains on a force induced VW with one.
True, but slapping a turbo on is easy. Anybody can go get a kintetic kit and throw it on. It takes a lot of skill and knowledge to build a vr that puts out pretty good power. I would be more impressed with someone that built a 250hp na motor rather then just bolt up a kit.

ya that would be impressive, i just dont bolt on kits though, all my setup is custom made so everything works well witht the other to make a reliable even power band, but it would be cool to see a N/A make a good amount of power, would have to be really careful with the compression ratio would be a challenge to balance the compression so you could still run pump gas and keep it streetable
i would have to dissagree, i have seen a few people make some good hp numbers with a short runner, there is a guy with a hpa type mani and hes making like 225 ish if i remember, if ya have a properly setup motor and a tune it should help but u will have a pretty bad loos in torque.
i think a high compression motor with a short runner would do work

The only issue is the valve to piston clearance on high CR VR's with bigger cams. Yes a turbo VR will make more HP per dollar but it'll also break way more things than a N/A VR will. Plus factor in traction issues and a built N/A VR will keep pace with a turbo VR up to a certain point. Yes you can make over 200-220whp on a VR but its gonna require a good amount of money to make that kind of power. When it comes to making power turbo>n/a. Im still building a n/a VR over a turbo VR anyways.

AccordTypeR you willing to post some pics and specs on your set-up
also Arizona Auto House has good prices on OEM stuff. they dont have everything but there are good prices
www.fourseasontuning.com
www.MJMautohaus.com
www.ECStuning.com
www.blackforestindustries.com
those are a few sites that will have many of the parts you will need to rebuild it.

Most of those commercial SRI's aren't even tuned for VR6 engines. The length of the runners, lack of velocity stacks, and overall geometry are way off. They're better for making space and visual appeal.
