Here is what I have had happen with two different MK3's.

First one: I went to turn the key to unlock it, and the lock cylinder jammed (on the driver's side). I went to the passenger side to unlock it and once I opened the door, the alarm would not stop going off. Finally, after opening both doors and the hatch, then closing them, and relocking the car with the passenger side lock, the alarm turned off. I then unlocked the car from the passenger side and everything was fine after that.

Second one: I had a car that had the lock cylinder slightly out of alignment or something. I had to slightly pull the key back towards me in order to operate the lock, otherwise it would not turn.

My advice, hook you battery back up, and play around with it, you'll get it eventually.

factory alarm? factory radio? if you still have it hook it back up. Call up Reeves or Kuhn with your vin number and some kind of proof it's your car. They'll give you the factory alarm code to disable it.

It's what I had to do in a very crowded parking lot. Everyone was looking at me like I was stealing the car.
