need some help
does anyone have an obd2 2.0 manual tranny ecu i can borrow to see if my jetta's ecu is fried. the car itself wont crank through the ignition. thought it was an ignition switch and it was replaced but still no power. at the ignition wire at the starter. you can jump the ighnition and the car will start but it runs like shit. though i think it may have a fried ecu cause when you connect the battery the cluster shows the oil and coolent blinking and trunk and battery lights are on even with the key out of the ignition and ive tried about everything i can think of to get the car to start except try an ecu. i would take the one from my golf but its obd1. any help. shared_pm or text me if you have one. 7274094366
Had a similar problem with the bug. Ended up being a bad contact in the relay panel under the dash. Look at the 2 relays with the number 5 on them. I simply swapped them and it worked fine. I couldn't tell you if I had any lights on the dash or not i no longer have a gauge cluster. If you need some help tracing down the problem, let me know I've got the bently for the bug (should be close to yours) and have gotten pretty good at reading the wiring diagrams. Your ecu is more than likely ok, unless you welded on the car with the battery hooked up. You could always bring your ecu to me and if it plugs into my car then we can see if it works.

thanks man but i think your thinking its and mk4 2.0 its an aba but i can see how they would be similar. but i tried something similar to what you said and it didnt do anything. also i forgot to add nothing inside the car works either. power locks, trunk release, sunroof, etc..
I'm thinking MKIV, but my bug is a 98 so it's kind of a 1/2 breed. Might still be able to help.
