it all depends on what chip your going with... APR, Unitronic, REVO ... ETC....

personally i would reccomend APR the only places i know off hand here in the area are... Fixx Tuning in Pinellas Park, and Cars and Concepts in Tampa.

dont just choose one because someone says its good.. Do your research they each have their pro's and cons.

Ive heard alot of good things from apr. Ive also heard they dont give you the highest amount of HP/Torque but they give you the best curve for it. Which is more for what im looking for. Since even when im doing spirited driving i hardly ever hit over 5k rpm so id like something in he normal driving i do which is 2500-3500 range.

APR likes to produce gobs of torque with their tunes. Plus with the sale they currently have, you get 4 programs all for the price of just the normal chip.

I personally am a fan of Uni but have had APR myself. It produces great mid range power which seems to be what you're looking for.

You can go to Dub Tunning in tampa, they offer GIAC+ chip tuning, which is what i'll be getting installed on my 02 GTI soon

This is a good thread comparing all the many different chips for our cars.

I dont have that kinda money to throw down for all that. From what i heard too that the cars relighablity goes down some once you start messing with the forced induction set up.

i would and i wouldnt recomend it either... your right it is expensive and some may see it as over priced (including me).... but since i was doing this to my daily driver i wanted to keep my car close to stock reliability as possible and APR fit the bill for that....

im actually considering going with a unitronic tune because im wanting to goto a 3071r but not sure yet. definatly need new rods before hand

anything you do as far as upgrading the turbo will reduce reliablity, even if its an apr kit or not..
not trying to argue, just saying..
your gonna get the same reliablity if u build your own kit..
