CEL-knock censor help

My check engine light came on today and i found out its the knock censor and i was wondering what could have caused that and if i have to take it to vw or if theres something i can do to fix it?

knock sensor should be on the front of your block it has one bolt and one connector and they're usually pretty cheap.
