1971 Squareback
Hey fellas my brother has a 1971 automatic squareback and I'm trying to find out for him what it could be worth. I have no details on the car so any broad answer would be a start. If any of you know this, let me know.
Thanks
Thanks

How much people ask for them on craigslist is NOT how much they are worth.
the problem is, type 3's have a limited following, plus the later models (70 and newer) are much less sought after than the earlier cars.
You can check the samba, but realize different areas have vastly different prices for VW's. Florida is one of the higher priced areas, but it has to be a car that people want, especially in this economy.
really depends on if its a clean body, how well it runs and who wants it. enthusiasts will pay the right price

Honestly It really depends on the condition of the car. Rust (floorpans, heater channels, bulkhead, spare tire area), maintenance that has been done, and what needs to be done are the three things that enthusiasts really look for when buying a old aircooled car. Also like stated above the type-3 has a weaker following, smaller aftermarket (compared to a bug), and like almost all older VW's.. the older the more disirable.
