Default 1992 gti vr6 build thread

I got me a 1992 volkswagen gti for a project car and should be done in a few weeks. list of things i just bought.

Volkswagen Head gasket set 102.50
Volkswagen Head bolt set, 20 pieces. Stretch type bolts w/ 12 point triple-square socket head, cannot be re-used. 39.40
Volkswagen Gasket set, engine block 51.10
Volkswagen Valve cover gasket, VR6, rubber 13.79
Volkswagen Intake manifold gasket, upper 5.73
Volkswagen Radiator hose, upper 57.33
Volkswagen Radiator hose, lower 30.98
Volkswagen Thermostat housing kit 49.90
Volkswagen C.V. Boot kit. Includes new boot, circlips, grease, clamps, and axle nut. 17.09
Volkswagen Water pump, new German made pump with metal impeller. 59.20
OEM replacement clutch kit 149.00
stock vr6 intake tube 20.00

THE CAR DETAILS ARE AS FOLLOWS

1992 volkswagen gti
tornado red paint (almost mint)
full recaro interior (nicest recaros i have ever seen)
12v vr6 swap with 90,000 miles on it
new timing chains
GIAC chipped ecu
cams
2.5 straight pipe exhaust back to a magnaflow muffler
fully adjustable KONI suspension
quad grill with HELLA lights in it
stock 15' vr6 BBS rims
smoked tailights
short shifter
mk3 guage cluster
power windows


so right now we are waiting for all those parts i bought to come in. so in the meantime we are trying to figure out all of the wiring that is involved which is alot lol. so in about 2 weeks the car should be done and i will have updated pics as we go along but this is how the car sits as of today (3-5-09).

those ground control coilovers are awesome. i put a set in my buddy's E36 M3 and it handles amazing. GL with your project. once you get the harness in it should be a cakewalk. but i imagine you'll be selling this soon so put me on the waiting list to buy it lol

Sweet looks like a bad ass project ! Dont know much about vw cars but I've seen some pretty sick ones in that body style

Also are you going to keep this one lol ? I always see you picking up something new or selling something

Nice nice. I'll try to see what the deal is with that one I told you about that doesn't move ever. He may be parting it. I'll let you know. The body is mint so you could maybe get re bumpers that aren't faded or somethin.

true that yeah the bumpers arent fading the car is just covered in lime rock and dust. once it is done it will be fully detailed by my buddy and will be looking brand new. and i think i will be keeping this car a long time
