Default 03 GTI 1.8t Speaker help.... please

Hey guys I just bought a 03 GTI 1.8t and for some reason the front speakers aren't working but the back ones are....I was wondering if anyone could help me fix this or give me some ideas as to what happened and how I could fix it.....Im new to VW's so any help would be apprecaited.

if you have an extra speaker i'd pull the one of the fronts hook up the other and just test it to make sure sound is going down the line to the speaker. if it does then replace both of the fronts, if it does not then take it to an audio shop and pray it's not to costly to fix

Is it the stock head unit or an aftermarket one? I have a set of the keys to remove the stock one and I believe walmart now sells them also but if it's double dinn then you need two sets. If its the stock cd player then I think its safe to assume the wires wern't messed with so check the speakers themselfs first.

Its the Stock head unit..... is it easy to take out the head unit cause Im completley new to these type of cars... i had a civic before and everything waslike a 10 minutes fix lol
