weird service visit to lindell....

i took my car to lindell on tuesday and dropped it off. i wanted them to fix the rattling heat shield on the exhaust manifold because it buzzed at about 2100 2800 and 5100 rpm and it was getting damn annoying. they told me it was a problem with the downpipe and it wasnt covered under the vw certified warranty. they told me that they didnt carry the clip that was needed to fix it and that i would have to go to an exhaust shop and have them weld something to fix it. so i drove off to my gfs house and i noticed the buzzing was gone. its been gone all last night and all day today. just weird.....

Thats funny. Because I took my car to Reeves for an oil change and when I picked it up they broke my exhuast. They broke the muffler hanger and said Tuff shit get a muffler place to fix it. Its aftermarket. Why do dealerships have to be such assholes??? Congrats on a successful visit though.

Lindell is horrible imo. When buying my car we put a down payment for $700 before paying full. All seemed well until Reeves offered a better price. When we asked to get our $700 back they agreed and said our credit card charge would be refunded. No refund came. After several calls we finally got our money back. Nice guys over there</sarcasm>....

I had the same heat-shield rattle problem in my 95 Golf which is the main reason I switched to a Brospeed header 
As a temporary fix you can have someone tack weld it together. There might be a place to shoot a few sheet metal screws through I dont remember. Definitely leave it alone until it makes noise again though. You might want to look to make sure they didnt remove the heat shield for you. That will eat away your shift linkage bushings in no time.
It seems most dealers have good and bad experiences. Try to find a mechanic at the dealer who is an enthusiast make friends and ask for him every time. Most people get the best service by having one person work on the car instead of a different person everytime.
