has anyone heard of deleteing your evap system to gain a lil horsepower?

i thought so, someone told me that it helped a bit in his 95 gti, but i couldnt make sence of it, except ofr the recirculation of exhaust through the intake, but i never understood evap systems anyway, i thinks its just another thing to make ur car fuck up
