Default Need a shop

I should be finishing my motor swap this sat. Its a 2.9 and im running a kenetics stg 2 with c2 software. Im looking for a shop that will be willing to work on a FI vr6. I need my timing, compression, and since i dont have a wideband (Im getting one) i need my afrs and all that good stuff checked. Any recommendations. Thanks for the help. Pleas dont suggest fix tunning, they said they dont really work on FI Vr6s

I heard of a good shop in tampa but i cant remeber the name. It was something concepts and i read a write up on some jetta they did

There isn't much a shop can do that you can't. Most places around Tampa haven't the slightest clue how to work on VR's (FI at that). If I were still in town, I'd have helped you out for free, just to see another VRt on the road. The only other guy I know of is in Temple Terrace. PM WilliamsVR6 on VWFixx and he may do something for you.

If mechanical timing is your issue, follow these rules:

- Keep chain slack on the tensioner side while cams are locked
- #1 piston at TDC
- Intermediate chain pulley should have a visible "half moon" or notch if looking down in engine... if you can see it, you're fine.
- Give the engine 4 dry turns with a wrench and without plugs. Your marks should all re-align if timed correctly.

If Ignition timing is your issue, then that is something you can't fix unless you've manipulated it with hardware/software combo. (MSD, EFI, Etc..) Otherwise, you'll have to send your chip back along with printed AFR's.

Just to keep it safe, drop in a 4bar FPR and run it on the dyno.

Thats basically what im looking for. I put in a 4 bar to put pressure on the pump. And im already running MSD so im thinkg the ignition is not going to be a problem. I just dont have a wideband and i need to make sure that im not running lean. The last time i took it to race related they werent very friendly. Typical mustang people. I havent fired it up yet so i might need even need a shop to do anything. I just want to make sure everything is what it needs to be.

You should be fine. Just stick with cheap copper 16v(PL) plugs until the bugs are worked out, then switch them out later with your preference.

Not sure which MSD you're running (6AL?), but if it doesn't start, there's an adapter you can buy to fix the crank signal error... if you're drawing directly from it.
