Default 2002 a4 trunk problem

I have an 02 A4 and the trunk wont latch. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? I pulled the cover off and it looks like it may be electric, so i checked all the fuses and the were all fine. Any input would be great thanks.. And if anyone know how to fix it or help I am willing to pay!! $$$

Oh yea right before this occured i was installing an amp and ther power wire got loose for a second, i dont know if this may have caused the problem.

Even if the locking mechanism is electric, the latch should still be opened by a mechanical device of some sort. If you can find the mechanical device that operates the latch, you may find your problem.

ok -thanks for the help !

I disconnected it and tried closing it manually but nothing.
Also i held the trunk release button down and is sounds like it is working. The only thing i could think is the spring load looks it could be loose. I googled the problem and didnt really find anything!!! this blows thank god it's top heavy and looks closed.. lol

There is a solenoid located in the trunk that was bad. I had to take it to the dealership! I believe that it was caused from the person I let mess with my amp, bad idea.
